What makes Pine Flakes better?

Pure and simple---the quality of our product. We go to great lengths to insure that we are producing the absolute best bedding on the market. Realizing that respiratory issues are of paramount concern to our customers, Telfair Forest Products (TFP) offers a product which emits extremely low amount of dust particles, which in return, helps to maintain good health of the horse. TFP closely monitors the drying process so the shavings have better absorbency levels. Pine Flakes is ultra compressed so each bag holds more product. Once you use Pine Flakes, you will immediately see and appreciate the difference between our shavings and the competitors. Telfair Forest Products manufactures a product which looks better, works better and is the best value on the market.

How many shavings are in your bag?
Due to TFP�s state of the art equipment, we are able to compress 12 cubic feet into the the Custom Blend bags. The Select Small bag holds 11 cubic feet. You can be assured you are getting the most for your money.

How much do your bales weigh?
Our bales weigh 31.5 pounds. The machinery used to assemble the bales assures that the weight of each and every bale is consistent within a 2% tolerance. You will also be pleased at how easy our highly compressed bales are to handle.

What type of wood is used for your shavings? And why?
We use only Southern yellow pine which has long been a favorite with horse owners for many reasons. One is the natural antiseptic qualities found in this tree. Another quality is the clean, fresh scent emitted when cut into shavings. A stall filled with a couple of bags of freshly opened Pine Flakes is pleasingly fragrant and dust free. Southern yellow pine is safe for animals of all types. Some hardwoods are especially dangerous for horses. Lastly, the Southern yellow pine has very good levels of absorbency when dried to optimum levels.

What size shavings does Telfair Forest Products manufacture?
Understanding that our customers have varying needs and/or preferences, we are offering three (3) products---Large Flake, Custom Blend and Select Small. Large Flake might be the best option, if you desire a beautifully dressed stall with large, fluffy shavings. If time is a deciding factor, you may prefer our Select Small as it quickly sifts through mucking rakes. Our best selling product is our Custom Blend. While nearly as cushy as our Large Flake and almost as siftable as our Select Small, many of our customers have commented that the Custom Blend gives them the best of both worlds. No matter which size shaving you choose, Telfair Forest Products manufactures the best on the market!

What is this about TFP and managed forests?
We only use trees from managed forests harvested by companies with Master Harvester certification. Trees are a sustainable and renewable resource if properly supported by careful and selective thinning and replanting. A Master Harvester certification requires a company to utilize least damage to the environment practices.

What keeps the bags from deteriorating?
Our industrial grade bags are UV coated to help prevent premature deterioration from the sun and the elements.

What about recycling?
Great question! We made certain that we chose a bag which could be recycled. It is recycle code one.
